The Reaching Strides Hunter Jumper Club was formed in the spring of 2009. It was originally formed to secure some funding for our newly built outdoor jumping ring, and then escalated into becoming the host of our first Bronze Hunter competition. The club in its first year had about 30 members, mostly students from the Reaching Strides Equestrian Team. Members received large discounts at RSHJC events in our first season of being an independent club.
The club is registered with the Nova Scotia Equestrian Federation and holds its own insurance policy through HEP which allows us to host not just competitions, but camps and clinics as well. The RSHJC is also responsible for fundraising, which allowed us the opportunity to purchase a full course set of Hunter competition jumps.
Our club's goals for next year are to host some more fantastic clinics at fair pricing, to hold some more sanctioned competitions, and to raise money for our new add-on to the stable - a lean-to at the back of the stable for another 6 box stalls and a heated wash stall. We also plan on purchasing a full course of Jumper jumps as well and doing some more landscaping work around the stable area. Anyone can be a member; the only requirement we have for being a member is that you must hold a current NSEF membership or EC sport license.Back to top
